By , About.com Guide

WANTED!!

Are you a teacher or writer with experience in the education market? Freelance writers are wanted to complete a new lesson plan book for educators all around the world. Publishing in the education market can be difficult and time consuming, but with a contributing piece to a collection of works, you can be a published author!

The Book Details

Blame It on the Rain is a new novel by author Laura Lee. This wonderful book details the ways in which the outcomes of historical events have been changed as a result of sudden or even gradual weather changes. I had the pleasure of completing an and she in turn provided me with a list of historical events which were altered by the weather. Topics include… In addition to the above history and weather articles, you can also find a book excerpt from Blame It on the Rain: How the Weather has Changed History (The Official Book Excerpt). (You will only see this excerpt here, exclusively at About.com!)

Get Your Teaching Idea Published

I am currently looking for lesson plans to publish in a new book for educators worldwide. The book is related to the topics of weather and history integration. The book will contain a series of 30 lessons designed for educators, by educators. Each lesson will contain a brief activity that will explain a concept in weather science. All of the weather topics are to be basic activities designed for the middle school level. It is hoped that the lessons are broad enough to be adaptable to higher and lower grade levels.

The concentration will be on weather and historical events. As a teacher, I am always looking for ways to make the weather and other science topics interesting for students at all levels. With a focus on cross-curricular integration, weather and history are perfect concepts to tie together.

Pay

As a contributing writer, you will be paid for your work upon publication of the book and you will get an honorarium if your writing is chosen as a finalist for the new novel. In addition, you will receive a copy of Blame It on the Rain. Any teacher who submits a lesson will be given full credit as the author AND lessons not selected for the weather companion book will be published on About.com exclusively. Lessons are accepted worldwide. For a model of the lesson plan components needed, please visit the weather lesson model. Please note that no one is required to complete ALL of the sections in this model and you can write lesson plans in whatever style you are most comfortable with.
