How to Get a Traffic Ticket for Driving Through a Flood
Monday August 4, 2008
Tennessee residents beware! Driving past a flood warning sign could get you a reckless driving offense. On July 1, 2008, Tennessee officials voted for a new law which makes ignoring a flood warning sign an offense which could land you a $2500 violation. Turn Around Don’t Drown (TADD™), is a national effort to promote flood awareness and the hazards of driving through even a small amount of water. To increase the bite on this law, officials are allowed to charge service fees if emergency personnel have to rescue the violator. In addition to the maximum fine of $2500, and the fees for rescue services, a driver can have 6 points added to their insurance (ouch!). Find more information about the new flood safety law in Tennessee. Remember, it can take only 2 feet of running water to carry away an average SUV.
