Hurricane Felix Death Toll Rises
Just two weeks after the Category 5 winds of Hurricane Dean, another Category 5 hurricane has slammed into northeastern Nicaragua on September 4, 2007. With many missing, and even more feared dead, officials are continuing to update the death toll after Hurricane Felix ravaged Central America this week. As the category 5 hurricane slammed into the area, massive rainfall and flooding is feared to have taken the lives of many more of the over 200 missing residents. Although the hurricane was quickly ripped apart by the mountains of Central America, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Guatemala are still drying out. At the last report, there were 40 people found dead.This news shadows the information released by experts at Colorado State University on Tuesday. Officials have now downgraded the forecasts for Atlantic hurricanes for the remaining three months of hurricane season 2007. The season is still expected to be above average for several reasons.
