Are Males or Females More Likely to Die in a Lightning Strike?

According to NOAA Storm Data, lightning seems to target males. Removing any unknown data from the weather statistics, of all the lightning deaths on the West Coast of the United States, males comprised 93.6% of all deaths from 1959 to 1994. In addition, in every other region of the US, male deaths from lightning always dominate the female statistics.

Overall, males are killed 4.6 times as often as females, and are 5.3 times as likely as females to be injured.
