Trace Precipitation

Definition: Trace amounts of rain or other forms of precipitation refers to precipitation that is less than 0.01 inches. When a forecaster talks about a trace amount of snow on television, they are generally referring to snowfall amounts that are below an easily detectable amount. Trace snow fall is often called a dusting of snow.
