What if an Emergency Happens During Travel or in the Car?

The vehicle safety kit is the subject of this section of the review. If you have ever traveled, you know the importance of having resources available in a convenient location. With the Sequoia Vehicle Safety Kit, you can have that peace of mind for unforeseen emergencies. The kit is designed for several types of vehicle emergencies.

The contents of the kit arrive in a a durable canvas bag with two carry straps. While the straps are durable I would love to see them come with an adjustable strap for carrying the kit. I believe this kit is designed to stay in the vehicle because it is not a convenient weight or size for carrying any distance. I would suggest removing many of the new items from their original packaging such as the flashlight/radio and retaining the instructions once you get your kit because space is at a premium.

A Closer Examination of the Contents of the Kit

Contents of the kit include

• Duct tape,
• 50 ft of polypropylene rope,
• Nexcare personal cleansing wipes,
• A notepad and pen,
• Leather work gloves,
• An emergency flashlight/radio combo,
• Playing cards and more.

Idea:-An alternative use for the playing cards might me to mark your path if you had to travel a longer distance on foot to safety. The cards might also make a great place to write rain-proof notes.

I do see some issue with the vehicle kit versus the two-person kit. I would consider that the pack is a bit tight. The items are stuffed in to the point of overflowing and I would worry that the factory sealed packages, once opened, may be very difficult to put back in the bag.

This survival kit would be great for a winter storm or if you end up stranded in an unpopulated area. The kit focuses on the people involved and will easily keep them safe for a few days. However, to make it an all-inclusive kit I would add several items including

Road flares,

Tire repair kits,

A blanket,

Jumper cables,

Universal help signs made of highly reflective material.

The kit is excellent in its function, but is not everything you need in one location. You will have to buy another type of kit for the above items.

Overall Quality and Opinions on the Vehicle Kit

The vehicle kit is a smart addition to the family car. With multiple drivers in a family, I can definitely see the need to buy one for each vehicle. While this may seem expensive in the beginning, it could save your life. The availability of rations for persons trapped in a car as well as potable water is vital to survival. If you live in extreme climates, regardless of the current vehicle kit you may or may not have, you will want to consider the items in this kit.

My Final Thoughts...

While it is my job to pick out and review items looking for all of the pros and cons, I find these products to have plenty more pros. The few exceptions I found are part of my neutrality in reporting everything I observed about the kits. Also available but not reviewed were the 4-person kits and customized options.

I highly recommend both of the products. Sequoia Survival Company does only one thing and they do it well. This company is not just selling products, they are selling safety and peace of mind.
