How Weather Changed History

Amazing Grace is one of our best loved, and best known hymns. The story behind the song was inspired by a violent storm. John Newton, a directionless young man working on a slave ship, made a promise to God that if he were to survive he would devote his life to His service. He survived and made good on his promise. Newton would, much later, become a minister, write Amazing Grace among his many recitations. (He did not write the music).
