Climatologist

Definition: A climatologist studies long-term weather trends or climatology. With specialized training in meteorology, a climatologist can be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting climate in local, regional, and global locations.

Mesoscale climatologists, for example, focus on storm systems and storm patterns on a more regional scale. Synoptic scale climatologists focus on large scale weather patterns. Specialty areas of study can include global warming, agriculture production, and economic meteorology.
