Maybe it's just me, but a Christmas without snow and cold just doesn't feel much like Christmas at all!
Fortunately for much of the nation this year, heavy snow is indeed in the forecast. From the West Coast, to the Plains, Midwest and into the Northeast, winter storm and even blizzard watches are in effect beginning on Christmas Day and extending through early Thursday. (For parts of the Southeast, a slight to moderate risk of severe weather is expected.)
All this talk of snow on Christmas has me wondering--why do we place so much importance on winter weather around this time of year anyway?
