During this unique time of year, teachers often scramble to find great lessons for students in order to keep them engaged and excited about learning. Educators at all grade levels are constantly looking for new and fresh ideas for teaching science. Teaching meteorology often catches student attention because it is directly related to their lives.

Teachers in the primary grade levels often use cloud identification, air volume and mass, and weather instruments as ways to introduce students to weather science. I have even compiled a list of weather songs from the 1960's to today. Or try the free weather coloring books.

Multiple examples of middle school and high school lessons are also available. For instance, students can learn to make a cloud in a bottle. Students can also learn how to locate the Jet Stream.

My personal favorite? You simply have to try the Sewer Slugs experiment. The name is deceiving. The lesson actually teaches buoyancy and air density in a really fun way. Go to the weather lesson plan page now to explore all the possibilities.
