Al Roker's Debut on the Weather Channel

Sunday July 19, 2009
The Weather Channel is by far one of the most popular weather sites on the internet. Long gone are the lowly days of uber-geek-dom when no one watched the channel for more than a few moments without slobbering. The Weather Channel is a transformed company with hit television shows, excellent meteorology talent, and a sleek look. As if that were not enough, now they have an Al Roker morning show.

Wake Up With Al is premiering Monday, July 20. Shown live from New York City, Al Roker will simulcast with one of the Weather Channel's most popular meteorologists, Stephanie Abrams live from Atlanta. Wake Up With Al will air weekdays from 6-7 a.m. ET. The show combines weather, news and entertainment and includes live news headlines from MSNBC, live weather and climate-related business stories from CNBC, weather forecasts, top weather stories of the day and the beloved Local on the 8s weather forecasts.

  • While reading through the press release for the show, I noticed that Al will be featuring guest speakers on the show. By the way, Mr. Roker...I know an educational weather expert....(hint, hint)
  • Al will also be doing a "Wake Up" call to select celebrities and viewers...(I may not be a celebrity, but call me!)
  • You can also enter a Friday giveaway for submitting weather photos. You can win a super-cool Al Roker alarm clock so you really can wake up with Al.
  • Links to follow Al on Twitter are also listed on the website. (Come on Al, follow me, the About.com Guide to Weather on Twitter)
Get more information directly from the Wake Up With Al website on the stories of the day.

Wake up with Al? No thanks. Now I will wake up with my local weather on WSB. A more adult presentation. Why does anyone think that this buffonnery sells. It doesn’t…not even to my 11 year old.
