Weather is a high-interest topic for children because it's all around us every day and often affects our activities. Rain may put a damper on outdoor activities or even offer an irresistible opportunity to splash in puddles. Snow means snowmen and snowball fights.

Severe weather such as storms, hurricanes, and tornadoes may be fascinating to study, but frightening to experience.

Use these free weather printables to learn more about the weather with your children. Try pairing these activities with some games or hands-on learning. You may want to:

  • Chart the weather for a week or a month and create a graph depicting your observations
  • Make your own weather station to observe the weather
  • Check out books from the library or watch videos to learn about the water cycle
  • Learn about severe weather events and how to be prepared for them
  • Visit your local TV station to talk to a meteorologist
  • Learn about the different types of clouds and what each means with regards to impending weather changes
  • Create an illustrated glossary of weather terms
  • Watch the weather forecast on your local news. Make note of the predicted forecast, then note each day whether it was right or wrong. After a week, figure the percentage of time the forecast was correct.
