Greenhouse Gases Shot Up in 2007
Wednesday October 29, 2008
Methane is 25 times more powerful per metric ton than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas. A new study by the Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases Experiment has concluded the amount of methane in Earth's atmosphere shot up in the early parts of 2007. The new study by researchers at MIT has shown a sudden and almost simultaneous increase in methane worldwide. Using a network of sensors sponsored by NASA, the conclusion is methane gas may be on the rise. On the other hand, the sudden rise in methane may be an anomaly due to a warm 2007.
