Are Hurricane Katrina and the India Floods Manmade Disasters?

Friday September 26, 2008
While not immediately threatened, flood waters are encroaching on the Taj Mahal as India struggles to regain a sense of normalcy after the intense flooding during the 2008 monsoon season.

The year has been dangerous so far as rivers have flooded their banks over and over. The Kosi River has even relocated itself causing widespread panic, diseases from the polluted waters, and so many deaths there are not enough places to cremate the bodies. Now, food riots are becoming a problem as millions of residents live in temporary shelters. While monsoon rains are usually expected and welcomed, this year's flooding has been called a catastrophe in India by Time magazine which is equating the India floods with the manmade disaster of Hurricane Katrina. What do you think? Take the poll below.
