Hurricane Hanna hit Haiti on September 2, 2008. Haiti has been suffering enough after the assault
tropical storm Fay and
hurricane Gustav put on the island nation. Hurricane Hanna seemed to have made a drunken and crooked path with a vengeance to hit Haiti. Heavy rainfall amounts of 8 to 12 inches could cause even more flooding in the already waterlogged country. Hanna was originally a weak Category 1 hurricane, but after battering Haiti, the Bahamas, and the
Turks and Caicos Islands, the storm was downgraded to tropical storm strength but is predicted to become a hurricane once again.
A state of emergency has been declared in Florida and residents are advised to watch the pattern of the storm as intensification is probable. Currently, Hanna lacks a well-defined hurricane eye, but now that the influence of Gustav is gone, Hanna will grow. The storm is expected to make landfall in South Carolina by late Friday, September 5, 2008. The Southeastern United States is already experiencing dangerous rip currents as a result of Hanna.
