Gustav Makes Landfall in the United States

Monday September 1, 2008
Hurricane Gustav made landfall in the United States West of New Orleans today September 1, 2008 at about 10:30 a.m. The hurricane was downgraded to a Category 2 storm, but at least 14 tornadoes have been reported and heavy rains present severe flooding issues. Storm surges have already been sloshing over the levee walls.
