Hurricane Gustav Could Make You Pay More at the Pump
While the storm is currently a Category 1 storm, the hurricane will intensify over the ocean as it moves towards Cuba and nearby areas. With projected rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches in Cuba and Jamaica, the chances for flash floods and mudslides is extremely high.
Once the storm reaches the Gulf of Mexico, it could gain considerable strength. The warm Gulf waters and a lack of wind shear could make this a considerable storm. There is even the possibility that the storm could turn into a Category 5 storm. The warm waters feed hurricanes and a lack of wind shear leaves nothing to tear the hurricane apart.
A large hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico could threaten the oil drilling platforms. In turn, oil prices can skyrocket upwards. According to msnbc.com, the price for a barrel of oil shot up $5 within just minutes on Tuesday. More information will be posted as the storm progresses.

And guess who has a 5 day trip to New Orleans scheduled to start on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd!! Right…me!
How about a little reality.
Gustav MAY rise gas prices? That’s like saying if I release this ball in my hand it MAY fall to my feet.
Oh my, are you so right. That comment made me chuckle. I feel the squeeze each time I pay for gas. It seems like the guy out there on the ladder with those big plastic numbers changing the gas prices is working full-time. If HIS salary were tied to the price of gas, he would certainly be making a mint. Have you noticed EVERYTHING is up in price? Just going to the grocery store to buy some meat, bread, and a can of coffee can rape you of a day’s pay.
I should have used the word WILL cost more!
