It Was the 36th Coolest Spring Season on Record
Thursday June 12, 2008
Data from the National Climatic Data Center now officially proves what you already knew...It was a cold spring season. It was especially cool for many states in May. While the number of years of weather records only dates to 1895, the spring of 2008 was below average all across the US. Only Florida, Washington, and Texas were above average for the spring season. Meanwhile, precipitation records were also set. Some states, such as California, experienced their driest spring season on record. In sharp contrast, some regions of the Midwest, including Arkansas, Nebraska, and Missouri experienced some of the wettest spring on record. This could also explain why the number of tornadoes may exceed previous tornado records.
