Africa Gets Drenched
Saturday September 15, 2007
Residents in Uganda and Kenya will not forget this year. (In fact millions all over Africa are being affected by flooding. Read the full story.) With some of the heaviest rain since the 1970s, the skies have unleashed a fury on the area and caused hundreds of thousands to give up everything they know. Although the death toll is relatively low at the moment, the flooding in Uganda has created the possibility of increased disease and indirect death due to heavy losses in crops. This could lead to increased famine as people struggle to feed their families with no income.
